--------------------------------------------
There is a critical temperature, where the CCD, becomes 'more attractive' to moisture, than the dessicant, and you start to get ice forming on the CCD, even if the dessicant is working perfectly... Now the ability of the dessicant to absorb water falls with temperature, so if the camera body temperature is low enough to 'allow' you to cool the CCD to (say) -35C, you actually may find you have to run the CCD hotter than normal, to avoid this!.
So the basic rule becomes:
Work as cold as you can, withing the limits of:
1) A temperature that will be achievable all night withing the power limits of the Peltier device.
2) Avoid taking the CCD below the temperature where ice starts to show on the CCD. Be aware that when ambient conditions are cold this may happen earlier than you expect.
Fortunately the latter is rare, but it makes it generally pointless to try to strain for the last couple of degrees.
