Lunar imaging will be too dim.

But very good for visual star test, to isolate just the best corrected wavelength.

我也有這Continuum Filter，不過前數年黑子太少，使用不多。目視方面，我總覺得綠色的影像有點怪。

期待很快能測試這濾鏡在拍攝方面的表現。

You don't need to buy H-alpha filter for this photo.

For best photography performance, you will need to add the continuum filter in addition to the Herschel Wedge set. The daytime seeing is usually very poor and the green continuum filter will help to reduce the problem.

I don't know if the photo mentioned was taken with or without the continuum filter. But don't expect such photo to come out automatically. For high magnification pictures, you need big aperture and very good seeing as well. A huge sunspot helps as well, of course. As you can see, a lot of these issues are beyond our control.

Filter arrived well packaged thanks you very much indeed.

I got this in for an old friend who has wanted a top notch wedge for some years. We tested yesterday and the views were simply superb. I was struck with the sharpness and lack of scatter compared with even an astro-solar filter.

The blackness outside the edge of the sun and the extra granulation visible even with 60mm aperture was also noticeable.

I'm sold on these lovely filters and will be saving some pennies to get one myself.

My ND3 has gone! Today I found out the reason that why there are unknown marks on my Herschel Wedge images since last solar observation in 25/5/2010. The marks on the image would not rotate with the camera. And I found there was no dust on the CCD, the filters and the Herschel Wedge. There were no visible damages in any optical parts. However, the problem was more pronounce in high magnification. Today I detach the ND3 and inspected it under the sun. Gosh! There were cracks on the ND3. I remembered that last time I reversed the order of assembling the Herschel Wedge. The ordering was:

Objective side, ND3, Herschel Wedge, Polarizer or Green continuum, Eyepiece side

This ordering term out to be wrong. My ND3 cannot stand for the heat energy and micro cracks formed! I need to buy a new one now! Dear Herschel Wedge users, don’t repeat my silly fault. The correct ordering should be:

Objective side, Herschel Wedge, ND3, Polarizer or Green continuum, Eyepiece side

Willis，小弟中學時用日本的 "Sun" 濾鏡看太陽，當時沒有Herschel wedge的，那片小小的濾鏡很接近焦點，承受了所有熱量及光量，在連續觀看太陽5分鐘後，就在我的目鏡前爆烈，當看到一道光線從裂縫滲進來時我才知道出事，馬上移開眼睛避禍。當時沒有保留那片濾鏡作紀念品，你的能否讓給我做教材?

你應興幸是自己親身發現這個問題，否則在學生或女兒觀看途中出事就不妙了

現時有ND3存貨，因為德國這些小濾鏡要停產了，除你以外，我以後不能獨立再賣庫存了，因為手上的都跟Herschel Wedge數量配套的，另外你要的小配重也帶了。

I took it to see the Sun yesterday. It's a very nice product. But be careful of the order of stacking up the lens and filters.
