There is no need to have a MS in Physics or MPhil in Physics to say something about the topic. Some physics knowledge & know how to use search engine can help. In order to have supernova explosion, the mass of the star should be at least ten times the solar mass. On the other hand, the death of the lighter star will become planetary nebula.

But the mass of Betelgeuse is still controversial. According to the Wikipedia, the mass is about 5-30 solar mass.

Combining the two information, it is hard to tell the death of Betelgeuse is supernova explosion or planetary nebula.

它的距離640光年，大約公元13XX年，應該是元朝未年或明初...

希望在有生之年可以親身看到這個天文奇境，不過在這裡我想到一個有趣的題外話

話說依照傳統人們都喜歡向星空許願，比方說最常看到的流星雨，另外著名的有七夕（牛郎與織女的傳說）之類的，但其實那些星空距離我們有數十光以至數百光光年，即使它們接收到我們的願望也需要很長的時間，那不就是我們都在為未來數十年後的自己在許願嗎？（雖然我不相信會發生的...）

但大家每次觀星時都要不忘對著星空傳達願望啊，因為可能此時彼刻的星空正正發生着你意想不到的事情。

总觉得这玩意不靠谱
不会这么快爆炸吧
这么遥远的距离观察准确度不得而知
想想猎户座可是我最早知道的星座
參宿四參宿期天狼星是我最早知道的星星（还没上学 ）
