LS80T first light (23-12-2010)

This is the first light of LS80T. The sun is not active today. Nothing special can be seen… The focal length of LS80T is 560mm, the DMK cannot image the full disc in one go. Luckily the width of the DMK sensor is able to cover full disc, the other shorter direction is being captured by drifting. One can see there is a slight horizontal artifact in the image. I don’t know how to get rid of it. Anyway suggestion???

The feeling of 3D is very strong    but (focusing on edge is a little bit blur???)

The image is nice and clearly a huge improvement from LS35.

u asked a good question. See this one. The edge performance is better. The edge blur is due to post-processing. If I pick different align points, the contrast & sharpness at different locations vary. One needs to try and error. I don't have a good general rule for that. In this video clip, the full disc is obtained by drifting, I cannot pick the alignment point too close to the edge or I cannot obtain the full disc. So it is kind of trade-off.
