Fiberglass has no problems with extreme cold, example: the buildings built at Scott Base for the exploration in Antartica are made of fiberglass. Fiberglass is very resiliant in extreme cold conditions.
In regards to the very cold temperatures, we have no problems and we have 2 x 3.5m's operating in Northern Finland in -35c conditions and a 5.0m in Sweden in similar conditions. The 3.5m's have been set up there for 5 years and are having no problems.
Extreme temperature change affects steel more than it does fiberglass - it does not expand and contract as much as steel does. The lubricant that we now use has a freezing point of -65c.
Yes, we can do a gun-metal grey colour which will make the dome look like metal. (It is a silver/grey colour). We can also put an extra coating on to protect against UV. There will be no extra charge for this.
The high wind kit has already been modified to be the same as the 5.0m and 6.7m, withstands wind speed up to 225Km/hr. In regards to the snow leaking, we have never had a snow-leaking problem on any of the 3.5m, 5.0m or 6.7m.
If you go onto our website, and click the link back to the original website (this link is found on the home-page of the new website), in the photo gallery you will be able to see photos of a 3.5m in Northern Poland.
